From Down Under
|
Dear Friends,A little travel account from the other side of the world, DownUnder, where I find myself these days. You were probably wondering what was going on in my life? I decided to chase this man I met in Europe half way around the world to where he lives in Australia. And here I am. It all fell into place and I still have to pinch myself to see if it is really true. Well, I am doing really well. I am where I am supposed to be. I have been on this journey for almost three weeks now, and though my purse is getting a little light rapidly, and there is much to absorb all the time, I am truly on a beautiful, healing journey. |

First week, I spent with James in Byron Bay, an area up near Queensland up north of Sydney. It is known for being an area with much spiritual activity. Well, James and I had a lot of catching up to do. We had borrowed a beautiful apartment with an amazing view, which was the perfect spot to spend our vacation. From our bedroom window we watched beautiful sunrises at the sea, the world flying silently by, saw birds, other animals like cows, donkeys and wallabies (related to the kangaroo) and the green, green trees growing into the skies above. We got flooded in by heavy rains and had to rescue the van we had borrowed from a local creek. Then came the sun back and we went to the beautiful beaches that seem to be in profusion around here. It is not summer here, but when the sun is out and it is often, then it is warm. Nights are hard to get used to; very cold and there is no central heating here, and my poor body was expecting summer. |

| Second week, back to the city staying in Bondi Beach, which is a suburban area of Sydney, which happens to be five blocks away from another beautiful beach! More rain and I spend a lot of time indoors first week here. That meant that I dug into my writing again, and I am having a marvelous time doing that. It feels good to open up for my creative energy, which has been kind of dormant for a while. Slowly getting to know Sydney. Taking my time and saving my money. Enjoying the beautiful romance, and the time to reflect on life and all that. Third week, went to do volunteer work at Greenpeace where James works. Very interesting to get involved in what they do. A lot bigger than my two people office in New York. There are about 65 employees at Greenpeace Pacific! |

| This week (and for the next month) I am in Wellington, in New Zealand to work with a colleague and very good friend of mine, Alyn. I havent been back to NZ for ten years and it is so great to see the beautiful country and people. I feel right at home here in Alyn's beautiful apartment, which is located in the center of the city. For the next three weeks, I will be staying in a house very close to the beach up north in a small town with a unspellable name. You can hear the ocean from the veranda more beaches I am so lucky! I am sharing house with a healer and a researcher from Germany. I have already started working on various projects that I will partake in while I am here. And later, I will visit my friends up in Auckland (up north), whom I havent seen for a long time. | Monkey in Sydney, July 2003 |
So I am doing really well. Opening up to this new country and beautiful new man in my life. I feel I am rewriting my life, my story and it feels good. I have found something very beautiful here. I hope you are all finding love and joy and light in your lives. I hope you are enjoying the summer now that I wont experience it, enjoy it more for me! |
