Snapshots from Denmark, Summer of 2008

Lejre, Denmark

In May 2008, Sidsel Katlev, a story teller I know, invited me to come hear her tell a couple of stories at the yearly Story Tellers' Festival which took place in the beautiful surrounding of Lejre Forsoegscenter. This is an experimental and scientific attraction that include houses and settings from the Iron Age, Stone Age, Viking Age and 1800th century, historic workshops and domestic animals.

Went for a short visit to Aarhus to see a couple of old friends. Had a lovely weekend.

When I got back to Copenhagen, I housesat a lovely house in Roedovre and invited a couple of friends over for a Waffle party in the lovely garden. Sidsel was the master chef and there was lot more than waffles to eat. Paul happened to stop by Denmark that week, so he joined the festivities.

We had a great week together in Roedovre.

In June, I was invited to go celebrate Sera's birthday in Hvidovre, and also got to help the mother with the preparations. Katrine wanted to make it a great day for Sera and got a little stressed. I think Sera had a great day.

Volden, Copenhagen

At the outskirts of the inner city of Copenhagen, there is a beautiful green path system for bicyclist and pedestrians to use. The following pictures is from that strip. I got to bike some the way to work for a while, which I really enjoyed. I hardly saw a car going to work in the morning because I could stay within the path system most of the way.

I enjoyed my morning and afternoon rides.

Gorenje

I worked for Gorenje all summer as a graphic designer/marketing assistant. It is the best job I have ever had. I loved the people and the work. It really suited me in many ways. The only thing that was missing was Paul. And though it was a full time gig, I still didn't feel I was missing out. I loved going to work in the morning. I don't ever want to feel any different with the work I do. I also learned so much working with my colleagues and I experienced again a harmonious team work situation. Thank you universe!

Surprise Goodbye party

Frederiksberg, August 4, 2008
Sidsel had organized a suprise get-together with some of my closest friends. She had made chocolate mouse with raspberries and whipped cream - mhm! We met up at Cafe Vaeksthuset, a located beautiful garden that is part of the Copenhagen school I for farming and gardening. I was so delighted to get to see people the day before my departure to the States, but at some point I felt the sadness creeping in. I have really made some beautiful connections while I was in Denmark this summer and I can feel in my heart that this moving around the world is starting to lose its meaning. I think I have learned what I need to learn from travelling. I am grateful for the love and connection I feel with people. I treasure it deeply. I know Denmark is also home and I can always return.
